Admiral of the Fleet SIR Peter John Hill-Norton, (8 February, 1915 – 16 May, 2004) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Joined the Navy in the September 1928 entry term at Dartmouth.

Hill-Norton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 1 October, 1936.

Hill-Norton was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 1 April, 1944.

Hill-Norton was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1947.

Hill-Norton was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1952.

Hill-Norton commanded the aircraft carrier Ark Royal from October 1959 until he was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 8 January, 1962.

Hill-Norton was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 7 August, 1965.

Hill-Norton was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 1 October, 1968.

Hill-Norton was promoted to the rank of Admiral of the Fleet on 12 March, 1971.
