Commander (retired) Patrick Wylie Rose Weir, R.N. (11 August, 1891 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Colonel P. A. Weir, Patrick Weir passed out of the Training Establishment with no additional time gained and joined the battlecruiser Indomitable in mid January, 1909.[1]

Weir was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1914.[2]

Weir was appointed to the battleship Marlborough on 2 June, 1914 and served in her until being superseded on 26 January, 1916. He presently joined the Murray, to serve a year in that vessel. In March of 1917, he was appointed in command of P35.[3]

On 24 July, 1918, Weir's Pincher was wrecked. He was court-martialed and sentenced to be reprimanded for steering an unsafe course.[4]

Post-War

Weir was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1922.[5]

Weir was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Commander on 11 August, 1935.[6]

World War II

Weir was mobilised on 29 September, 1938 and served throughout the war in a variety of naval college-related commands in Bristol and Dartmouth.

He reverted to the Retired List on 26 November 1946.
