Noel Marcus Francis Corbett
Life & Career
Born in Lynn, Dorset the son of J. Corbett, Esq..
Corbett was appointed to H.M.S. Indomitable on 2 March, 1912.
In December 1912, Corbett was awarded the Royal Humane Society's Silver Medal for plucking an Able Seaman from the wreck of S.S. Delhi off Algeria.
Corbett remained in Indomitable through most of the war, fighting in her at the Battle of Jutland. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 November, 1917 and left the ship when appointed to the light cruiser Aurora as first lieutenant on 19 February, 1918.
Corbett was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1922.
Corbett was placed on the Retired List at his ow request with the rank of Captain on 20 December, 1933.
