Captain Mervyn Hugh Cobbe, R.N. (7 April, 1873 – 27 May, 1915) was an officer in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Cobbe was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1911.[1]
Cobbe was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Naiad on 11 February, 1914.[2]
The April 1915 Navy List indicates that Cobbe was to be placed in command of Princess Margaret on 9 March, 1915, but he was apparently instead sent to her ill-fated sister.
Cobbe was therefore killed when the minelayer Princess Irene exploded and sank near Sheerness when being loaded with mines.[3]
