Commander (retired) Lindsay Richard Venn (15 October, 1883 – 31 December, 1966) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Venn underwent examinations for several days commencing on 20 July, 1897 and gained entrance to the Britannia term of August, 1897, his 1211 marks placing him forty-fourth in merit among the sixty-three candidates accepted as naval cadets.[1]

Venn was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1904.

On 24 January, 1905, Venn was appointed in command of the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 51.[2]

Venn was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1912.

Venn was appointed in command of the monitor Severn on 10 October, 1917.[3]

Venn was placed on the Retired List at his own request with the rank of Commander on 15 October, 1926.

Venn was elected in 1931 as a Municipal Reform Party member of the London County Council for Hammersmith North.[4]
