Admiral John Scott Luard, C.B., Royal Navy, Retired (26 June, 1865 – 5 March, 1936) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Luard was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 24 August, 1887.[1]

Luard was promoted to the rank of Commander dated 30 June, 1899.[2]

Captain

Luard was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1905.[3]

He was appointed to H.M.S. Exmouth as Flag Captain on 7 October, 1908.[4]

He was appointed command of the battleship Albemarle on 8 February, 1910.[5]

Great War

Luard was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 2 April, 1917, and placed on the Retired List the following day.[6]

On the occasion of the King's birthday he was appointed an Additional Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 3 June, 1918.[7]

He was advanced to the rank of Vice-Admiral on the Retired List on 26 November, 1920,[8] and to the rank of Admiral on the Retired List on 24 November, 1925.[9]
