Rear-Admiral (retired) John Gorham Hewitt (24 November, 1858 – 28 December, 1913) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Hewitt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1882.[1]

Hewitt was promoted to the rank of Commander on 1 January, 1895.[2]

Hewitt was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1901.[3]

Hewitt elected to travel to England for an operation, arriving home in Oceana on 11 December 1904. He was fit on 7 April, 1905.[4]

Hewitt was appointed in command of the second class protected cruiser Juno on 27 June, 1905.[5]

Hewitt was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 14 June, 1906 and promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 3 January, 1911.[6]
