Commander (retired) James Nethery Hill, R.N. (9 February, 1850 – 15 August, 1902) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Hill was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 4 April, 1874.

Hill was tried by a Court Martial in February, 1878 and acquitted of stranding Raleigh on an island.

On 20 April, 1882, Hill was appointed to Sultan. In July of that year, he was praised by Captain Hunt-Grubbe for his conduct during an attack on forts at Alexandria.

Hill was placed on the Retired List with the rank of Commander on 9 February, 1895.
