Captain THE HONOURABLE Hugh Tyrwhitt, C.V.O., C.S.I., Royal Navy (14 July, 1856 – 26 October, 1907) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Tywhitt was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant with seniority of 4 February, 1881.[1]

He was appointed Flag Lieutenant to Lord John Hay, Commander-in-Chief, Mediterranean, on 7 February, 1883.[2]

On 19 March, 1900, Tyrwhitt was appointed to the battleship Renown as Flag Captain to Sir John A. Fisher, Commander-in-Chief on the Mediterranean Station.[3]

On the occasion of the King's visit to Ireland Tyrwhitt was appointed a Member of the Fourth Class of the Royal Victorian Order (M.V.O.) on 11 August, 1903.[4]

On the occasion of the visit of the Prince and Princess of Wales to India, on 15 May, 1906, Tyrwhitt was appointed a Commander of the Fourth Class of the Royal Victorian Order (C.V.O.), dated 11 March.[5]

He was appointed a Naval Aide-de-Camp to the King dated 1 October, 1907, vice Hamilton.[6]
