Captain Hugh Seymour, D.S.O. (22 January, 1879 – 27 November, 1950) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Seymour gained an impressive eleven months' time on passing out of Britannia.

Seymour was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May, 1901.[1]

Seymour was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 May, 1909.[2]

Seymour was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1915.[3]

In February through April of 1916, Seymour swept the Whiten Head minefield. He received a D.S.O. for sweeping in the period January through June of 1916.[4]

On 15 September 1917, the Admiralty thanked him for his service in command of a Gunboat Flotilla attached to the Grand Fleet. In 1918, S.N.O., Granton forwarded a strong recommendation that Seymour should receive a bar for his D.S.O. for his work in mine clearance. This was awarded in late 1918.

Post-War
