Lieutenant Hugh Richard Tickell, R.N. (23 October, 1879 or 1880[1] – 10 November, 1911) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of retired Colonel Arthur Tickell was born in Isleworth.[2]

Tickell was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1901.[3]

Tickell was awarded the Shadwell Testimonial for 1909. He returned to England on the P. & O. liner Macedonia, arriving as expected on 23 April, 1910 and received great credit for his sketches of creeks[?] and rivers while on the China Station.[4]

Tickell was appointed to H.M.S. Ganges for Shotley Barracks, to be first Lieutenant on 14 August, 1910. He died in Shotley Sick Quarters of septic anemia[?] and pneumonia on 10 November, 1911.[5]
