Hugh Henry Darby Tothill

Admiral SIR Hugh Henry Darby Tothill, K.C.B., K.C.M.G., K.C.V.O., Royal Navy (14 March, 1865 – 25 September, 1927) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Captain

Tothill was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1905.[1]

Great War

Tothill was appointed in command of the dreadnought battleship Conqueror on 22 December, 1914.[2] Tothill was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 17 April, 1917, vice Hunter.[3] On 31 May, he replaced Rear-Admiral Lionel Halsey as Fourth Sea Lord.[4]

Post-War

Tohill was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 1 March, 1926.[5]
