Hugh Barrington Le Fanu
Captain (retired) Hugh Barrington Le Fanu, (11 November, 1872 – 9 May, 1929) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Dublin, the son of W. R Le Fanu, Esq..[1]
Le Fanu was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1894.[2]
Le Fanu was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1906.[3]
After three months in command of the destroyer Wolverine of the First Destroyer Flotilla, on 7 December 19120 Le Fanu began a two year appointment in charge of detention barracks at Pembroke.[4]
In September 1913, Le Fanu was "generally blamed for fouling of No. 19 Buoy by Albion in the Medway. He spent the Great War serving in the Kingstown Coast Guard.[5]
Le Fanu was placed on the Retired List on account of age at the rank of Captain on 11 November, 1922.[6]
