Lieutenant-Commander (retired) Herbert Charles Found (2 December, 1883 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Found was promoted to the rank of Acting Mate on 7 July, 1913. He served in the first-class torpedo boat T.B. 30 from the outbreak of war. He was still in this appointment in February 1916 when he was tried by Court Martial on a charge of theft. He was acquitted, and the Admiralty expressed incomprehension at what induced the Court to arrive at this verdict.[1]

Found fell ill with fever in late May 1916 and was taken by hospital ship to Malta. He was told he would join the battleship London when she arrived. He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 7 July, 1916.[2]

He was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 1 May 1920 and promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 7 July 1924.[3]

World War II

Found was called up and served, seemingly ashore.
