Sir Henry John Newbolt, C.H. (6 June, 1862 – 19 April, 1938) was an English poet, novelist and historian. Although his work was varied and rich, in terms of our subject area, Newbolt worked with the War Propaganda Bureau when the Great War began. Among his responsibilities, of course, was shaping the contours of public perception of the war.

Newbolt was knighted in 1915. Newbolt wrote Volume V of the Royal Navy's official history of the war.
