Admiral SIR Henry Frederick Nicholson, K.C.B., Royal Navy (24 October, 1835 – 17 October, 1914) was an officer of the Royal Navy.
Early Life & Career
Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Commander on 11 April, 1866.[1]
He was appointed an Ordinary Member of the Third Class, or Companion, in the Military Division of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath (C.B.) on 14 August.[2]
Nicholson was promoted to the rank of Vice-Admiral on 25 February, 1892, vice Watson.[3]
In the Queen's Diamond Jubilee honours, Nicholson was appointed an Additional Member of the Second Class, or Knight Commander, in the Military Division of the Order of the Bath (K.C.B.) on 22 June, 1897.[4] He was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 16 September vice Baird.[5] In accordance with the provisions of the Order in Council of 22 February, 1870, he was placed on the Retired List on 11 December, at his own request.[6]
