Captain Hartley Russell Gwennap Moore, C.B.E., R.N. (18 April, 1881 – 26 December, 1953) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born in Launcester.

Moore was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 March, 1903.

In November, 1909, Moore was awarded the Royal Humane Society Bronze Medal.

Moore was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 March, 1911.

Moore was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1914.

Moore was appointed in command of the battlecruiser New Zealand on 11 March, 1920.[1] (in reserve at Rosyth).

Moore was appointed Superintendent of Mine Design on 1 October, 1923..

Moore was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Captain on 18 April, 1927, but continued to work in his Mine Design post until 18 April, 1935.
