H.M.S. Vega was one of twenty-five "V" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1917-18.

Service

Vega was commissioned on 4 December, 1917.[5]

She was re-commissioned at Chatham on 15 September, 1924 for service with the Second Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[6]

The ship was re-commissioned at the Nore on 27 May, 1927.[7]

Vega was commissioned at Chatham on 11 June, 1930 for service with the Second Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[8]

In 1934, her bell was offered for sale to naval officers and others who might be interested, at the price of £5 or perhaps £1. Interested parties were to write the Director of Stores and were urged to include any special information which might convey the importance they attach to the bell, in light of the Admiralty's understanding that such items carry great sentimental value.[10]

Vega was re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 31 August 1934 for service with the Second Destroyer Flotilla of the Home Fleet under Lt. Cdr. Harry Robert Graham.[11]

She again re-commissioned on 4 November, 1936 to join the Reserve Fleet at Portsmouth.[12]
