H.M.S. Vancouver was one of twenty-five "V" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1917-18. She was renamed H.M.S. Vimy in April, 1928 when H.M.S. Toreador was being renamed H.M.C.S. Vancouver upon her transfer to the Royal Canadian Navy.

Service

Vancouver re-commissioned on 3 December, 1918.[6]

She was re-commissioned on 3 May, 1923. By March 1925, she was with First Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic.[7]

She re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 7 January, 1926 for service with the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic, where she operated under the command of James Chaigneau Colvill.[8]

The ship was re-commissioned as H.M.S. Vimy on 4 September, 1928.[9] Toreador took up her old name at the same time.

Re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 11 November, 1930 for work wuth the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla in the Atlantic Fleet,[10] remaining so deployed until at least early 1933.[11]
