H.M.S. Valkyrie was one of five "V" class flotilla leaders.

Service

Valkyrie joined the Tenth Destroyer Flotilla in June, 1917 and operated as a component of the Harwich Force.

In March, 1918, Valkyrie moved over to join the Thirteenth Destroyer Flotilla, which was tasked with screening the Battle Cruiser Force, although she remained paid off until she recommissioned on 23 June, 1918.[5]

In February, 1919 Valkyrie joined the newly fashioned Third Destroyer Flotilla, part of the new post-war Royal Navy and charged with screening the Battle Fleet.

The flotilla leader was re-commissioned at Devonport on 4 December, 1923. By March 1925, she was in service with the Ninth Destroyer Flotilla of the Atlantic Fleet.[6]

Re-commissioned with Reserve Crew on 23 November, 1925.[7]

She was re-commissioned at Rosyth on 21 May, 1927 for service with the Second Destroyer Flotilla in the Mediterranean.[8]

The ship was commissioned on 1 April, 1928.[9]
