H.M.S. Torbay was one of sixty-seven "S" class destroyers built for the Royal Navy as the Great War was ending. She was completed after the war.

Service

Torbay reduced to Reserve at Portsmouth on 16 August, 1920.[6]

Torbay was transferred to the Royal Canadian Navy in 1928, commissioning at Portsmouth on 1 March as H.M.C.S. Champlain. She served a training ship until 1936.
