H.M.S. Tempest was one of sixty-two "R" class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy in 1916-17.

Service

Tempest joined the Harwich Force's Tenth Destroyer Flotilla, a formation then consisting of eighteen "R" and nine "M" class destroyers, upon her commissioning in March, 1917.

In February, 1919 she moved to join the post-war Fourth Destroyer Flotilla.

Recommissioned with reduced Complement on 11 October, 1919.[8]

Commissioned 25 November, 1926.[9]
