H.M.S. Rapid was one of one hundred and three destroyers of the "M" class built for the Royal Navy during the Great War.

She was reduced to Special Complement on 24 April, 1920.[6]

Rapid was reduced to Reserve Complement on 23 October, 1924, tender to Dido.[7]

Following another series of trials under command of Orrell Bake, Rapid was again reduced to reserve on 22 June, 1925.[8]

Following an earlier round of a flotilla leader and seventeen destroyers, Rapid was named in September 1925 as one of an additional fifteen destroyers to be scrapped in the fiscal year starting 1 April, 1926.[9]
