H.M.S. Nile was one of two Trafalgar class battleships completed in 1890 and 1891.

Service

Nile was commissioned by Captain Gerard H. U. Noel at Portsmouth on 30 June, 1891.[6]

On 18 April 1893, Nile collided with the T.B. 21 in Malta harbour.[7]

On 25 October 1901, Nile collided with Trafalgar and Captain Rolleston was told that the Admiralty observed "with surprise and regret that he did not consider his immediate attendance on deck necessary during the performance of a Fleet Evolution, especially in view of the fact that the movement in question was ordered for the purpose of taking the squadron into narrow waters."[8]

On 9 July, 1912, she was sold at auction for £34,900 to T. W. Ward of Sheffield.[9]

In 1901, while serving as a Port Guard ship, she had or was slated to receive a "1 to 52" W/T set.[10]
