H.M.S. L 8 was one of thirty-five "L" class submarines completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

In 1925, she was part of Fourth Submarine Flotilla on the China Station. A Lieutenant Thomas Eric Kirwan Donaldson is listed with her, but not expressly as being "in command".[7]
