The submarine was not completed before long after the end of the war.

Commissioned on 29 August, 1924. In March 1925, she was part of Second Submarine Flotilla in the Mediterranean,[5] remaining there until at least early 1929.[6]

By mid-1931, she had been transferred to the Fifth Submarine Flotilla.[7]

Captains

Dates of appointment are provided when known.

D'Oyly-Hughes appears to have been appointed when it was thought the submarine would be completed in a timely manner.
