H.M.S. Hind was one of 29 destroyers of the Acheron class.
Radio
She was one of 18 Acheron class destroyers fitted with W/T in 1912, becoming one of 123 destroyers so far fitted with Destroyer Sets.[8]
Service
Hind joined the First Destroyer Flotilla sometime before February, 1913.
In June 1914, planned alterations in Portsmouth Royal Dockyard, when the ship was presumably serving with the First Destroyer Flotilla were to be deferred:[9]
- removal of strips under cocoanut matting
- fitting of boom to stern
- addition of loading lights to guns
In July, 1914, Hind was serving in First Destroyer Flotilla, part of First Fleet.[10]
In May of 1916, Hind left 1 D.F. with seven other destroyers to screen the Third Battle Squadron. Around September, this new formation would be given the designation of 1. D.F..
In August 1917, Hind was sent to the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla, which was operating out of Devonport.
In March, 1918, she joined the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla, a formation then numbering over forty destroyers in the Mediterranean.
She was reduced to C. & M. Party at Devonport on 13 October, 1919.[11]
