Service
Hawkins was commissioned on 23 July, 1919 and became the flagship on the China Station, first flying the flag of Vice-Admiral Alexander L. Duff.
Hawkins was re-commissioned at Singapore on 30 June, 1923 and became the flagship of Commander-in-Chief, China Station Sir Allan F. Everett.[8]
She was re-commissioned at Hong Kong on 3 February, 1926 to continue her function as a component of Fifth Cruiser Squadron and as flagship of the C-in-C.[9]
Paid off into Dockyard Control on 12 November, 1928.[10]
Re-commissioned in reserve at Portsmouth on 5 May, 1931.[11] She re-commissioned at Portsmouth on 21 September, 1932 for service with the Fourth Cruiser Squadron in the East Indies.[12]
Commissioned at Portsmouth on 25 April, 1935.[13]
