H.M.S. Harpy was one of sixteen destroyers of the Beagle class.
Service
In mid-1913, she was part of the Third Destroyer Flotilla.[7]
At the outset of the war, all sixteen Beagles were assigned to the Fifth Destroyer Flotilla, operating in the Mediterranean. She was involved in a skirmish on 29 September, 1916 which resulted in her captain, Hugh Turnour England being wounded in both legs and invalided from the ship, being replaced by Wellwood G. C. Maxwell.
In September, 1917, Harpy went to the Second Destroyer Flotilla on the Coast of Ireland Station, along with the Beagle and Wolverine.
In May 1918, Harpy moved to the Fourth Destroyer Flotilla, which was operating out of Devonport.
