H.M.S. Griper (1879)

Broken up: 1951[3]
H.M.S. Griper was one of 24 gunboats of the Ant class. Her name is sometimes spelled Gryper.[4]

In 1923, Griper was made a base ship in Simonstown and her named was changed to H.M.S. Flora.

Service

Commissioned at Portsmouth on 12 May, 1885.[5]

Commissioned at Simonstown on 15 June, 1923 as Flora.[6]
