H.M.S. Firedrake was one of eighteen "E" and "F" Class destroyers completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Mrs. Blake, the wife of Fourth Sea Lord, Rear-Admiral Geoffrey Blake performed the naming ceremony for Firedrake at her launching on 28 June, 1934. Two sisters were launched the same day: Fame and Forester.[4]

Commissioned on 4 June, 1935 for service with the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla of the Home Fleet.[5]

Re-commissioned at Chatham on 3 March, 1936 for service with the Sixth Destroyer Flotilla of the Home Fleet.[6]
