H.M.S. E 7 was one of fifty-seven "E" class submarines completed in Britain before and during the Great War.

Service

One account of her loss records that the submarine was detected after she became became entangled in a net at Nagara Point. Oberleutmant Heino von Heimburg, whose UB 14 was under repair at Chanak, seized the opportunity and rowed out in a boat with his cook to lower mines down to batter the enemy sub. Cochrane and his entire crew was taken prisoner after he was forced to surface.[6]
