H.M.S. Digby was a commercial liner converted for use as an Armed Merchant Cruiser in the Royal Navy.

Service

Digby was commissioned on 22 November[6] or in December, 1914.[7]

She was renamed Artois in November, 1915 when she was transferred to France.[8]

On 19 July, 1917, Artois transferred back to the Royal Navy, becoming H.M.S. Artois.

Armament

She was armed with:[9]

  • five 6-in guns
  • two 6-pdrs
