H.M.S. Daring was one of six Fantome Class composite screw sloops completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Re-commissioned at Hong Kong on 12 December, 1883.[5]

In December 1887, Arthur Herbert Boldero was ordered to bring Daring home from the China Station to pay off at Sheerness after her fourth term of foreign service. The ship was not expected to serve further.[6]
