H.M.S. D 1 was one of 8 submarines of the D class.

Service

D 1, E 55 and E 26 sortied from Harwich at 7 p.m., GMT on 30th May 1916 to try to intercept the returning High Sea Fleet on a line stretching west from the Vyl Light Vessel. D 1's position was most distant, at 20 miles, and the least eventful. She made her station at 4.30a.m. on June 1st, but she sighted nothing throughout her patrol. All three submarines returned to Harwich after dark on June 3rd.[6]
