H.M.S. Chelmsford was one of thirty-two Ascot Class paddle minesweepers completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Lingfield's commander was cautioned to be more careful after she collided with Chelmsford on 4 November 1917.[7]

She paid off on 13 February, 1920.[8]

In January, 1921, she was one of six paddle minesweepers allocated to the Central Reserve of Minesweepers, along with thirty-four twin screw minesweepers, all under C. & M. parties.[9]

She paid off on 6 December, 1922 in the charge of a C. & M. Party at The Nore.[10]
