H.M.S. C 16 was one of 38 submarines of the "C" class.

Service

C 16 was rammed and sunk twice by accident, both times being raised and put back into service. On 14 July, 1909, C 17 collided with her. On 16 April, 1917, Melampus sank the sub again, killing all on board despite efforts to escape from the sunken hulk.
