H.M.S. Bulldog was one of twenty-four Ant class gunboats completed for the Royal Navy. There was also a Beagle class destroyer named H.M.S. Bulldog launched in 1909.

Service

Upon completion in November 1872, Bulldog and her sister Pike joined the first division of the Steam Reserve at Portsmouth.[4]
