H.M.S. Albacore was one of three Albacore class gunboats completed for the Royal Navy.

Service

Albacore was rammed "with much force" by the screw steamer Louise as she was moored in the night to Government Buoy 1 near Cork on 12 July, 1893. The collision was quite loud and the American protected cruiser Chicago, which was moored nearby, cast lights upon the two vessels, as the sleepy, jarred crew of Albacore inspected the considerable damage. Damages were estimated at £250, though no leaks developed.[3]

Albacore was paid off at Portsmouth from its role as guardship at the Channel Islands on 31 December, 1904.[4]
