Guy Dalrymple Fanshawe
Captain Guy Dalrymple Fanshawe, R.N., Retired (30 March, 1882 – ) served in the Royal Navy.
Life & Career
Born in Falmouth, the son of Captain Arthur D. Fanshawe, R.N..
Fanshawe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 August, 1903.
Fanshawe was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 August, 1911.
Fanshawe was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1915.
Post-War
Fanshawe was placed on the Retired List at his own request upon his discharge, that date being 31 March, 1923.
Fanshawe was promoted to the rank of Captain (retired) on 30 March, 1927.
World War II
Mobilised on 28 September 1938, Fanshawe first worked as a Chief of Naval Staff to the officer in charge of Tyne and then as Naval Officer in Charge, Harwich. He was relieved by the C-in-C, Nore in October 1939 on account of his "overbearing manner".
