Chief Boatswain Gustav Sabelstrom (July 1866 – ) was a Swedish-born warrant officer who served in the United States Navy.
Life & Career
Gustav Sabelstrom was born in Sweden and subsequently enlisted in the United States Navy several years after immigrating to the United States in 1880, rising to the rank of Chief Quartermaster by 1900.[1]
Sabelstrom was appointed to the rank of Boatswain on 11 April, 1901 after twelve years, eleven months and fifteen days' service as an enlisted man, although this appointment was not officially confirmed until 1903.[2][3][4]
Sabelstrom was promoted to the rank of Chief Boatswain on 11 April, 1907.[5]
Sabelstrom was placed on the retired list on 15 August, 1922 on his own application after thirty years' service in conformity with the Act of May 13, 1898.[6]
