Captain Gilbert Palmer Claridge, (8 January, 1900 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of J. G. Claridge, Esq., linen manufacturer in Streatham. He served in Conqueror and Moon during the war. His wartime evaluators, Captains Kiddle and Tothill stressed his high intelligence.

On 29 March 1918 he failed to qualify in a Torpedo Control Course at Vernon.

Claridge was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 15 February, 1920.

He married Margaret Ethel Beer in China on 12 April, 1924. His wife would die on 26 April, 1950.

Claridge was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 15 February, 1928.

Claridge was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1934.

World War II

Claridge was promoted to the rank of Captain on 30 June, 1942.

Aide de Camp to the King on 8 January, 1951.

Retired List 7 July, 1951.
