Lieutenant Gerald Oliver, R.N. (9 March, 1863 – 11 February, 1910) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born at sea.

Oliver was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in October, 1887. This seniority would be pushed back nine months in a Court Martial on 6 February, 1891.

Another Court Martial on 12 June, 1891 concerning some events aboard the composite screw sloop Penguin seems unusual, in that Commander William Usborne Moore's conduct of the proceeding was itself described as "not judicial."

Appointed in command of the river gunboat Herald from 14 August, 1894 to 1 July, 1896.

He retired at his own request on 14 March, 1906.
