Commander Gerald Louis Saurin, (13 October, 1880 – 8 April, 1954) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of a Colonel M. Saurin, Gerald Saurin placed first of sixty successful candidates following examinations held on 12 June and successive days and received a naval cadetship for the July 1894 term at H.M.S. Britannia.[1]

Saurin was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 6 November, 1901.

Saurin was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 August, 1912. He retired 8 April, 1913.

He participated in the bombardment of the Belgian coast from August to November 1915.

A promotion to Captain (retired) dated 11 November 1918 was cancelled at Saurin's own request, oddly.
