Captain George Bridges Lewis (20 June, 1882 – 22 May, 1941) was an officer in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Lewis entered the Royal Navy with the January, 1897 intake term at H.M.S. Britannia, passing in 2nd in order of merit with 1614 marks in the competitive entrance examinations.[1]

Lewis was appointed in command of the depot ship Alecto on 1 March, 1914, and for duty with submarines.[2]

Lewis was appointed in command of the light cruiser Inconstant on 22 October, 1919.[3]

Post-War

World War II

Lewis was superseded in command of the armed merchant cruiser Carnarvon Castle by Martin John Coucher de Meric on 19 May, 1940.
