Admiral George Augustus Giffard, C.M.G., Royal Navy (20 February, 1849 – 23 September, 1925) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

On 1 July, 1887, Giffard was given command of the sloop Wanderer.[1] He was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1890.[2]

Giffard was appointed Commodore, Second Class in the Newfoundland Fisheries Division on 23 February, 1899.[3]

Flag Rank

Giffard was promoted to the rank of Rear-Admiral on 1 October, 1903, vice Rolfe.[4]

Giffard was appointed Admiral Superintendent of Chatham Dockyard on 5 February, 1907.[5]

Giffard was promoted to the rank of Admiral on 19 July, 1911, vice Barlow,[6] and was placed on the Retired List at his own request on 16 May, 1913.[7]
