Captain (retired) Frank Heathcote Powys Maurice, C.B.E., R.N. (6 April, 1895 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

The son of Reverend F. L. Powys Maurice.[1]

Maurice passed out of the Training Establishment on 15 September, 1912 and was appointed to the pre-dreadnought King Edward VII. He survived her loss on 6 January, 1916 and was appointed, at the end of the month, to the new battleship Royal Oak, which was still being completed.

Maurice was promoted in the ship to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 June, 1916 and served in her through the Battle of Jutland until being appointed to Collingwood on 6 June, 1917.[2]

Maurice was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 June, 1924.[3]

Maurice was promoted to the rank of Commander on 30 June, 1930.[4]

World War II

Maurice was promoted to the rank of Captain on the Retired List on 6 April, 1945. I am unsure if he retired that day or have previously done so.[5]
