Commander (retired) Francis William Crowther, D.S.C., R.N. (9 July, 1889 – ) served in the Royal Navy.

Life & Career

Born the son of a Reverend in a place named something like "Trichinopoli."

Crowther was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 30 July, 1911.[1]

Crowther was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 30 July, 1919.[2]

Crowther was placed on the Retired List at his own request at the rank of Commander on 29 August, 1932.[3]

World War II

Captured when Hong Kong fell, Crowther survived captivity and was liberated.

In 1946, he accepted a position with the Chinese government.[4]
