Francis Hungerford Pollen

Captain (retired) Francis Hungerford Pollen, C.B.E, (25 March, 1862 – 28 April, 1944) was an officer of the Royal Navy.

He was the father of Captain John Francis Hungerford Pollen, Royal Navy.

Early Life & Career

Pollen was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 14 February, 1885.[1]

On 21 March, 1892, he was placed on the Retired List as unfit for further service, owing to liver disease.[2]

Pollen was promoted to the rank of Commander on 25 March, 1902.[3]

He served in the Humber in the Mobilisation Office in 1917-19.[4]

Pollen was promoted to the rank of Captain on 11 November, 1918.[5]

He spoke French and German.
