Francis Edmund Blechynden Haselfoot

Captain Francis Edmund Blechynden Haselfoot, D.S.O., R.N. (4 July, 1885 – 27 February, 1938) served in the Royal Navy. His four Service Records at The National Archives each offer a different spelling for his third name. He would be awarded patents for designing anti-aircraft sighting mechanisms, artillery clocks and other devices.

Life & Career

Born in London, the son of F. H. Haselfoot, Esq., Barrister-at-Law.[1]

Haselfoot was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant on 31 December, 1907.[2]

Haselfoot was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant-Commander on 31 December, 1915.[3]

Haselfoot was promoted to the rank of Commander on 31 December, 1918.[4]

Haselfoot was promoted to the rank of Captain on 31 December, 1926. He was placed on the Retired List as medically unfit due to tubercuolsis, attributable to circumstances related to his service, on 13 March, 1929.[5]
